Job summary

RWJBarnabas Health in New Brunswick, NJ is seeking an Environmental Service Aide for the evening shift. You will maintain clean, safe, healing environments across patient rooms, treatment areas, offices and public spaces, following hospital cleaning protocols and infection prevention standards.

Daily duties include disinfection, dusting, mopping, waste handling, stocking supplies, and collaborating with clinical staff to support patient care.

Qualifications

• Must be able to speak, read and write English.
• Previous environmental services/housekeeping or healthcare cleaning experience preferred.
• Evening shift availability required.

Responsibilities

• Clean and disinfect patient rooms, bathrooms, treatment areas, offices, and public spaces.
• Dust, damp mop, vacuum, and spot clean floors, carpets, furniture, and fixtures.
• Empty, clean, and reline waste containers; safely handle regular and contaminated waste.
• Clean and prepare patient beds and cribs following discharge and isolation room cleaning procedures.
• Replenish restroom and environmental supplies to keep areas stocked.
• Report maintenance concerns and submit work orders for repairs.
• Maintain cleaning equipment and use supplies responsibly and efficiently.
• Follow infection prevention and hospital cleaning protocols at all times.
• Participate in department meetings and ongoing training to support development.
• Work collaboratively with patients, visitors, clinical staff, and team members to provide excellent service.

The Environmental Services Aide plays an essential role in creating a clean, safe, and healing environment for patients, families, and caregivers. As an Environmental Services Aide, you'll help maintain the highest standards of cleanliness throughout the hospital while making a meaningful impact on the patient experience every day.

As an Environmental Services Aide, a typical day might include the following:

• Clean and disinfect patient rooms, bathrooms, treatment areas, offices, and public spaces throughout the hospital.
• Dust, damp mop, vacuum, and spot clean floors, carpets, furniture, and fixtures.
• Empty, clean, and reline waste containers while safely handling regular and contaminated waste.

To be considered for this opportunity, you must be able to speak, read and write English. Previous environmental services, housekeeping, custodial, janitorial, or healthcare cleaning experience is preferred.

Schedule: Monday through Friday, rotating weekends 4PM-12:30AM, Full-Time 40 hours per week.
