Job summary

ERM is seeking a Consultant, Environmental Scientist to join our Capital Project Delivery team in Houston, Texas. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary experts to support environmental permitting, due diligence, impact assessments, and regulatory compliance projects for clients across the renewable energy, oil and gas, power, and technology sectors.

You will gain exposure to a diverse portfolio of projects and clients while growing your technical skills.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's and/or master's degree in environmental science, biology, natural resources, planning, or related discipline.
  • 2 to 3 years of relevant environmental experience or professional internships.
  • Strong commitment to safety and ability to work outdoors in variable conditions.
  • Willingness to support field assignments for extended periods.
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Effective written and verbal communication with strong organizational abilities.
  • Strong technical report writing skills.
  • Experience recording/writing detailed technical data and reports and building tables.
  • Ability to multi-task and work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrated collaboration, initiative, adaptability, and client service mindset.
  • Highly organized with a broad project perspective.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

  • Perform field surveys, sampling, inspections; collect and organize field data; conduct literature reviews and prepare field notes/reports.
  • Assist with wetland delineations and habitat assessments using GPS tech and data management.
  • Provide technical assistance on environmental due diligence, habitat assessments, and permitting.
  • Conduct land-use planning, renewable energy assessments, and permit matrices with risk assessments.
  • Help prepare project-specific compliance management plans per federal/state/local requirements.
  • Support multi-agency permitting documentation (USACE, FWS, NMFS, etc.).
  • Deliver assignments within quality, budget, schedule and scope expectations.
