Job summary

Freeport-McMoRan, located in Bagdad, Arizona, is seeking an Environmental Scientist II to provide technical support for environmental programs at our site. The role requires strong data analysis, regulatory knowledge, and the ability to lead small to medium projects with a team.

You will install and maintain monitoring equipment, assess risk, and coordinate with vendors while ensuring compliance with local and national regulations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science or related field with at least three years environmental experience, or Master’s degree with at least one year.
• Engineering degree with at least three years environmental experience, or Master’s in Engineering with at least one year.
• Additional certification or licensure such as HAZWOPER, Method 9, DOT, EMS Auditor, Asbestos, Water Treatment Operator, or CHMM.

Responsibilities

• Installs, operates, and maintains environmental and emission monitoring equipment; analyzes data for regulatory compliance.
• Evaluates environmental risk and develops risk-reduction programs.
• Collaborates in recommending actions to management to ensure regulatory compliance.
• Reviews and maintains detailed records of environmental data and communications.
• Manages contracts with vendors for services and equipment.
• Maintains knowledge of applicable environmental regulations.
• May lead projects as Project Manager or technical expert on small to medium environmental projects.
• Leads/participates in audits and inspections for EMS compliance.
• Coordinates recycling and disposition of materials and assets.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
