Job summary

Freeport-McMoRan is hiring Environmental Scientist II or Environmental Engineer II for the Bayard, NM site. You will support environmental projects, operate monitoring equipment, analyze data for compliance, and collaborate with management on regulatory actions.

The role requires a relevant degree and experience; certifications (HAZWOPER, CHMM, etc.) may be required or preferred. The position offers full-time employment with a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Technology, Earth Science or related field; 3+ years environmental experience for Scientist II, or Master’s with 1+ year experience.
• Bachelor’s in Engineering (Environmental, Civil, Chemical, Mining, Metallurgical) with 3+ years environmental experience for Engineer II; Master’s with 1+ year experience.

Responsibilities

• Installs, operates and maintains environmental monitoring instruments and tests data for regulatory compliance.
• Evaluates environmental risk and develops risk-reduction programs.
• Leads or participates in audits and inspections to ensure compliance with EMS requirements.
• May lead projects as Project Manager or technical expert on small to mid-size environmental projects.
