Job summary

SCS Engineers is seeking an energetic environmental services professional to join our Southwest team in Long Beach, CA. The role blends office and field work, with an emphasis on Phase I Environmental Site Assessments, Phase II investigations, and multi-media sampling.

Ideal candidates will have a Bachelor's degree in Geology or related field, at least 2 years of environmental experience, and be proficient with regulatory standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in geology, environmental science, engineering, or related field.
• Minimum of 2 years of related environmental experience.
• Strong knowledge of water quality and environmental regulations.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office; AutoCAD, Surfer, or ArcGIS preferred.
• HAZWOPER training up to date.
• CSST certification preferred.
• Progress toward PE/PG preferred.
• Good communication and writing skills.
• Valid driver's license with good driving record.

Responsibilities

• Conduct Phase I ESAs and Phase II investigations in accordance with ASTM Standards.
• Perform multi-media sampling (soil, soil vapor, groundwater, indoor air, methane, surface water, sediment).
• Oversee sampling and abatement of asbestos-containing materials and/or lead-based paint.
• Supervise contractors during field activities for regulatory and safety compliance.
• Prepare lithological logs and boring logs; write reports and supporting documentation.
• Travel to field sites throughout Southern California; long field days.
• Prepare proposals; contribute to project documentation."
• Potential to manage small to mid-size projects and support larger projects.
• Communicate project status, schedules and compliance issues with clients, third parties, and regulatory agents.
