Job summary

FirstEnergy Corp is seeking an Environmental Engineer to support regulatory compliance and permitting for transmission and substation projects across multiple states. The role includes developing permit packages, coordinating with outside consultants, and communicating environmental results to diverse audiences.

The position requires strong communication, project management, and budgeting skills, with willingness to travel in-field and occasionally overnight.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Biology, Ecology, Botany, Wildlife/Zoology, Environmental or Physical Sciences/Studies or related field from an accredited college/university
• Zero to few years of experience in environmental consulting or a related field
• Strong written and verbal communication skills; experience with third-party customers or stakeholders

Responsibilities

• Support development and implementation of programs ensuring environmental regulatory obligations are met for transmission lines and substations
• Assist with permit packages, regulatory reports and submittals
• Coordinate with outside consultants to ensure project delivery
• Review reports and recommendations from outside consultants
• Prepare technical documents such as environmental impact statements and communicate results to industry, government, or public
• Develop relationships with agencies and the public to promote cooperative management
