Job summary

FirstEnergy Corp. is seeking an environmental professional to support the Environmental Department in the construction of electric transmission and distribution assets across OH, PA, WV, MD, and NJ. The role involves obtaining environmental permits, monitoring compliance, and coordinating with regulatory agencies and stakeholders, with occasional in-field travel.

Qualifications include a B.S. in a relevant science or engineering field and strong communication, project management, and regulatory

Qualifications

• Verbal and written communication skills are required.
• Strong project management and budgeting/cost control experience is essential.
• Ability to apply logic and reasoning to identify strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions.
• Ability to consider relative costs and benefits when selecting a path to resolution.

Responsibilities

• Support the development and implementation of programs to meet environmental regulatory obligations for construction of transmission lines and substations.
• Assist with preparation of permit packages, regulatory reports and submittals.
• Assess project needs and procure services from outside consultants as needed.
• Review reports, studies and recommendations from outside consultants.
• Assist with technical documents such as environmental impact statements and communicate results to stakeholders.
• Develop and maintain relationships with agencies and the public to encourage cooperative management strategies.
• Assess impacts of environmental laws on energy delivery facilities and provide guidance on regulatory requirements.
• Communicate and present information to diverse audiences.
• Storm-duty as required.
