Job summary

FirstEnergy Corp. is seeking an Environmental professional to support the Environmental Department across OH, PA, WV, MD, and NJ. The role involves obtaining permits, compliance oversight, impact assessments, and coordination with agencies and consultants for electric transmission and substation projects.

The position requires travel to field sites, strong communication, and project management skills to ensure regulatory obligations are met efficiently.

Qualifications

• BS in Biology, Ecology, Botany, Wildlife/Zoology, Environmental or Physical Sciences/Studies, Engineering or related field.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong project management and budgeting/cost control experience.
• Experience using logic to evaluate options and select solutions.

Responsibilities

• Support environmental regulatory program development for transmission lines and substations.
• Prepare permit packages, regulatory reports and submittals.
• Coordinate with consultants and internal teams to ensure project delivery.
• Review reports and provide feedback on studies and recommendations.
• Develop environmental impact documents and communicate findings to stakeholders.
• Build and maintain relationships with agencies and the public to support regulatory compliance.
• Assess environmental law impacts on energy facilities and provide guidance on regulatory requirements.
• Present information to diverse audiences; participate in storm duty as needed.
