Job summary

FirstEnergy Corp seeks an environmental professional to support the Environmental Department in OH, PA, WV, MD, and NJ. You will conduct and manage environmental and engineering tasks related to the construction of electric transmission lines and substations, including permits, compliance monitoring, and mitigation planning.

The role requires field work and occasional overnight travel, with a focus on regulatory compliance and coordination with agencies and stakeholders across multiple states.

Qualifications

• Minimum formal education in environmental sciences or related field as listed; no experience required in some cases.
• Strong verbal and written communication with stakeholders.
• Solid project management and budgeting/cost control abilities.

Responsibilities

• Support development and implementation of programs ensuring environmental regulatory obligations for construction of transmission lines and substations.
• Assist in preparing permit packages, regulatory reports and submittals.
• Coordinate with outside consultants to procure services for project delivery.
• Review reports and recommendations from consultants and provide comments.
• Assist in preparing technical documents like environmental impact reports and communicate results to industry, government, or public.
• Build and maintain relationships with agencies, groups, and the public to encourage cooperative management strategies.
• Assess impacts of environmental laws on energy delivery facilities and provide guidance on regulatory requirements.
• Present information timely to diverse audiences.
• Occasional storm-duty travel as required.
