Qualifications

  • Experience working with NYC agencies (Port Authority, NYCHHC, DCAS, MTA).

  • NYSDOL Asbestos Inspector Certification.
  • EPA Lead Inspector Certification.

Job Title: Environmental Scientist
Job Description

This role offers the opportunity to work as an Environmental Scientist conducting building inspections and environmental sampling across the five boroughs. You will evaluate structures for asbestos, PCB-containing materials, and lead-based paint, ensure compliance with applicable regulations, and prepare clear, comprehensive documentation of your findings. You will collaborate with public agencies and project teams to support safe, compliant environmental practices on a variety of projects.

Responsibilities
  • Perform detailed building inspections to identify and assess asbestos, PCB-containing materials, and lead-based paint in accordance with regulatory requirements.
  • Collect, label, and document environmental samples accurately, ensuring chain-of-custody and adherence to established protocols.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports that include sample location drawings, photographs, laboratory data, and clear interpretations of findings.
  • Interpret and apply NYC DEP Title 15, NYS ICR 56, and other applicable environmental regulations to ensure full compliance on all projects.
  • Work closely with NYC agencies such as the Port Authority, NYCHHC, DCAS, MTA, and others to coordinate inspections, reporting, and project activities.
  • Prepare and file ACP forms using the NYC DEP ARTS system, ensuring accuracy and timely submission.
  • Collaborate with a team of environmental scientists and technicians to support projects throughout the five boroughs.
  • Support environmental remediation and field activities as needed, including site visits, monitoring, and documentation.
  • Maintain accurate project records, including field notes, photographs, and regulatory documentation.
  • Promote safe work practices in the field and in the office, following OSHA and HAZWOPER standards.
Essential Skills
  • At least 2 years of experience in environmental science or a closely related environmental field.

  • Qualification or experience as a Mold Inspector.
  • Experience working as part of a multidisciplinary team of environmental scientists and technicians.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for interacting with agencies, clients, and project teams.
  • Comfort working on projects across the five boroughs.
Work Environment

You will work as part of a full-service architecture and engineering firm that provides civil, environmental, transportation, structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and construction monitoring services. The role is based in an office located in Brooklyn, NY, with projects and fieldwork throughout the five boroughs. You will work five days a week, splitting time between office-based reporting and coordination tasks and field-based inspections and sampling. The work environment involves collaboration with a diverse team of professionals and regular interaction with public agencies and project stakeholders.

This is a Permanent position based out of Brooklyn, NY.

Pay And Benefits

The pay range for this position is $72800.00 - $79040.00/yr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
