Job summary

HDR is seeking an Environmental Sciences and Planning Lead in North Carolina to guide staff development, deliver high-quality environmental planning services, and coordinate NEPA/SEPA projects within the Transportation Business Group.

You will lead multi-disciplinary teams, manage client relationships, contribute to business development, and ensure proactive project management across projects from planning through permitting, coordinating with local and national teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent; 10+ years of professional experience.
• Master’s degree in environmental science or planning preferred.
• Experience writing proposals, scopes of work, budgets, and schedules.
• NEPA experience (EIS, EA, CE) and related regulatory knowledge.
• Regulatory permitting experience with 404/401/CAMA/Buffers.
• Professional registration or license may be required.

Responsibilities

• Lead operations of production including staff development and profitability.
• Function as Project Manager and oversee production on projects.
• Manage client relationships and pursue new work with key clients.
• Coordinate services with other sections and mentor staff.
• Plan marketing, proposals, and interviews.
• Direct work of staff on environmental studies and reports.
• Ensure work is planned, organized, and evaluated via project management.
• Lead multidisciplinary teams and coordinate with leadership.
