Job summary

Burns & McDonnell’s Southeast Region is seeking a Routing & Siting Project Manager to lead transmission line routing studies, NEPA analyses, and land use permitting for diverse projects.

The role emphasizes seller-doer responsibilities, client development, proposal support, and regulatory compliance across multiple states, with up to 20% travel and primary location in Atlanta and additional sites in Orlando and Charlotte.

Qualifications

• B.S. or M.S. in Environmental Science or Studies, Land Use planning/Urban Planning, Natural and/or Cultural Resource Management or related field from an accredited program.
• Minimum 7 years related professional experience in leading and managing technical teams, project management, business development, and balancing utilization rates.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience with routing or siting studies, environmental permitting, NEPA documents, CPCN documentation, or Energy Facility Siting and Licensing.

Responsibilities

• Project management, team leadership, and mentoring of junior staff.
• Prepare routing studies and evaluations pursuant to regulatory requirements for applicable state applications.
• Prepare environmental studies/evaluations, impact analysis, and NEPA documentation for projects.
• Conduct pre-application meetings with jurisdictions and prepare land use permits and public outreach materials.
• Work independently on technical reports and NEPA compliance.
• Collaborate with clients, resource agencies, and regulatory staff on environmental documents and studies.
• Develop and strengthen client relationships.
