Job summary

West Virginia Department of Environmental Protection is seeking an Environmental Resources Specialist 1 in the Division of Land Restoration. You will assist professional staff with site assessments, future land-use planning, and remediation activities across Brownfields and UECA-LUST programs.

This role entails reviewing reports, assisting with oversight, and maintaining ERIS/OERIS data, while supporting grant and reporting efforts and public records management.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university is required.
• Substitution: 1 year of environmental/natural resources experience may substitute for 30 semester hours of training.
• Promotional Only: 2 years as Environmental Resources Associate may substitute for the required training.
• Note: Competitive candidates may receive probationary appointment pending verification of qualifying training or certification.

Responsibilities

• Assist in professional oversight of site assessment, future land-use planning, and remediation activities.
• Assist with data entry, ERIS/OERIS maintenance, and staff contact lists.
• Coordinate grant reporting, budgets, and public records for the division.
