S&M is seeking a Natural Resources Project Manager to lead environmental and natural resource projects from planning through completion in Charlotte, NC. This role blends fieldwork with office duties, coordinating with regulatory agencies, clients, and internal teams to deliver sustainable solutions while prioritizing safety, quality, and project performance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Biological or Environmental Sciences from an accredited college or university.
• 4+ years of experience with wetland delineations, stream determinations, environmental permitting, mitigation, protected species surveys, and ecological surveys in the southeast U.S.
• Demonstrated successful team leadership and management at a project level with safety, quality, and risk management awareness.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills for clients, staff, and regulatory personnel.

Responsibilities

• Manage natural resources projects from proposal development through execution, including scopes, schedules, budgets, and client communication to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.
• Coordinate with federal, state, and local regulatory agencies to evaluate jurisdictional waters, support environmental permitting efforts, and ensure compliance with applicable regulations.
• Conduct and oversee wetland delineations, stream determinations, mitigation support, ecological assessments, and protected species surveys as needed.
• Work alongside and mentor technical staff, ensuring safety, quality standards, and operational objectives are met while coordinating with other service lines to support project needs.
• Build and maintain strong client relationships, provide regular project updates, and represent the company in professional and community settings to support business development and visibility.
