Job summary

Maryland Department of the Environment is seeking a Natural Resource Planner II to evaluate stormwater and sediment programs, perform field inspections, and develop reports with recommendations to strengthen local compliance. The role supports environmental protection and resilience across Maryland.

The position emphasizes stakeholder engagement, data analysis, and effective communication of climate change and environmental justice policies, with state vehicle responsibilities as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in environmental science or related field.
• One year of experience in natural resources planning or applied environmental science.
• Master’s degree or substitutions listed may fulfill education/experience requirements.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate local erosion and sediment control, stormwater management, and federal stormwater permitting programs.
• Travel Maryland-wide to inspect urban pollution control practices and enforce local codes.
• Analyze data and prepare reports and recommendations to improve program effectiveness.
• Engage stakeholders and communicate climate change and environmental justice policies.
• Operate a State vehicle as required.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in environmental science or natural resources planning

Master’s degree in natural resources planning or related fields
