Job description

Position Overview

At Jacobs, we're challenging today to reinvent tomorrow by solving the world's most critical problems for thriving cities, resilient environments, mission‑critical outcomes, operational advancement, scientific discovery and cutting‑edge manufacturing, turning abstract ideas into realities that transform the world for good.

Your Impact

We’re seeking Project Managers with a background in environmental site characterization and remediation projects to oversee the delivery of challenging projects for federal and global private sector clients.

Responsibilities

Based in the United States, you'll have the opportunity to advance your career by engaging with key client representatives to expand our business. You'll work alongside recognized technical experts, developing and implementing comprehensive site strategies, and delivering innovative solutions for some of the most challenging sites across the region and nationwide.

You will collaboratively manage project teams that include both field and office‑based staff, senior technical consultants, and technical subject‑matter experts, with support from Jacobs' internal management. Your focus will be on delivering environmental projects with a strong emphasis on environmental remediation. Your tasks will primarily involve proposal and cost estimate preparation, subcontractor procurement, financial management including client invoicing, schedule management, staff mentorship and leadership, client relationship building, regulatory agency correspondence, data interpretation, and report development.

Projects will require thoughtful strategy development, leveraging technical expertise, and collaboration with clients and stakeholders. All projects must be delivered with the high safety, compliance, and quality standards expected by both Jacobs and our clients.

This is a hybrid position where you’ll be afforded the flexibility to work from both the office as well as from home to meet project delivery goals while maintaining balance; however, regular attendance (at least 2 days per week) in the office or on a project site is required for this role.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in environmental engineering, geological engineering, geology, or other closely related field.
  • Experience as a project manager at environmental remediation sites involving contaminated media including soil, sediments, or groundwater.
  • Experience conducting site investigations/characterizations, remedial investigations, feasibility studies, engineering evaluations, and remedial designs/actions.
  • Experience identifying and resolving key issues impacting remedy implementation (technical, regulatory, risk, stakeholder, land use, etc.) and emerging issues.
  • Experience with leading a team in implementing site closure strategy and effectively managing change over time.
  • Experience as a liaison or point of contact communicating efficacy between contractors, team members, regulatory agencies, property owners, other consultants, and clients.
  • Related professional certification (or the ability to obtain and maintain), including but not limited to, Professional Engineer (P.E.) license, Professional Geologist (PG) license, or Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in engineering, geology, or other closely related field.
