Job summary

Jacobs is seeking a seasoned project manager for environmental site characterization and remediation. You will support government and private-sector clients, leading teams across field and office staff to deliver remediation strategies and site-wide plans.

Based near one of Jacobs' Northern California offices, you’ll engage with clients and regulatory agencies, navigate complex requirements, and ensure timely, compliant project delivery while improving environmental outcomes.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in geology, environmental engineering, civil engineering, geotechnical engineering, or related field.
  • Experience managing large, complex sites with multiple operable units and remediation challenges.
  • Experience conducting site investigations, remedial design, or optimization of remediation systems.
  • Familiarity with federal and California state environmental regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Lead project teams of field and office staff to deliver environmental remediation projects.
  • Coordinate with clients, stakeholders, and regulatory agencies to ensure project alignment.
  • Identify and resolve issues impacting remedy implementation across technical, regulatory, and land-use domains.

Your impact

We’re seeking an experienced project manager with a background in environmental site characterization and remediation to support the delivery of challenging projects for government and global private‑sector clients. Based near one of our Northern California offices, you’ll have the opportunity to work on remediation projects for key clients, grow your career by interacting with key client representatives, and collaborate with recognized technical experts to develop and implement comprehensive site strategies. You will manage project teams that include field and office‑based staff, senior technical consultants, and technical subject‑matter experts, with support from Jacobs internal management, to deliver environmental projects with a strong focus on remediation.

Location and Work Arrangement

This is a hybrid position located in Oakland, Sacramento, or Redding, California. The role offers flexibility to work from the office, home, and project sites to meet project delivery goals while maintaining balance.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in geology, environmental engineering, civil engineering, geotechnical engineering, or another closely related degree
  • Experience as a project manager at large, complex sites involving multiple operable units, non‑aqueous phase liquid, and contaminated soil, sediment, and groundwater
  • Experience conducting site investigations/characterizations, remedial investigations, feasibility studies, engineering evaluations, remedial designs/actions, and optimizing remediation systems
  • Experience in identifying and resolving key issues impacting environmental remedy implementation (technical, regulatory, risk, land use, etc.)
  • Experience as a project manager providing client consulting services and representing clients to stakeholders such as regulatory agencies, property owners, government officials, and other consultants
  • Familiarity with federal and California state regulations
  • Familiarity with CERCLA, RCRA, UST, and other related regulatory frameworks

The base salary range for this position is $112,900.00 to $170,720.00. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job‑related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
