Job summary

State of Colorado’s Division of Reclamation, Mining, and Safety seeks a qualified reviewer to assess mine plans and permits for technical accuracy and regulatory compliance. The role includes preparing permit records, inspection reports, and conducting inspections to enforce the Colorado Mined Land Reclamation Act.

You will collect evidence, prepare reports, and present findings at hearings, contributing to safe and compliant mining activities in Colorado.

Qualifications

  • Four (4) years professional work experience in geo-technical engineering, mining engineering, geo-chemistry, geology, hydrology, environmental science, physical science, natural resource management or related field.
  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited college or university in geo-technical engineering, mining engineering, engineering, geo-chemistry, geology, hydrology, natural science, environmental science, natural resource management or related field.
  • Colorado residency is required at the time of application.

Responsibilities

  • Review mine plans and permits for technical adequacy and regulatory compliance.
  • Prepare and write legally binding permit records, inspection reports, and technical documents.
  • Conduct field inspections and collect evidence to support enforcement actions and hearings.
  • Present evidence and testify at hearings before the Mined Land Reclamation Board.
