Job summary

Atlas is seeking an Environmental Project Manager to lead complex petroleum-related projects across Illinois, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations and coordinating scope, schedule, budget, contractor performance, and stakeholder communication.

You will work with field staff and project teams for Illinois-based projects, supporting major clients such as 7-Eleven, Speedway and Marathon, while upholding safety standards and delivering high-quality reports and outcomes.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Geology, Biology, Hydrology, Environmental Science, Earth Science, or a related field.
  • Working knowledge of Illinois EPA LUST regulations.
  • Adhere to Atlas and site-specific safety standards.
  • Ability to manage, prepare, and review technical reports.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record required.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including spreadsheets.
  • Strong analytical and technical skills.
  • Technical knowledge of Illinois LUST regulations preferred.

Job Description

The Environmental Project Manager will lead and oversee complex petroleum-related projects across the State of Illinois, ensuring full compliance with state and federal regulatory requirements—including those governed by the Illinois Environmental Protection Act, the Office of the State Fire Marshal (OSFM), and applicable UST regulations. This role is responsible for managing project scope, schedule, budget, contractor performance, and stakeholder communication for a portfolio of environmental, infrastructure, and operational projects at active and former retail petroleum facilities.

About the Job
  • Employment Type: Full-time
  • Compensation: $77,000 - $85,000 annual salary
    The expected salary range for the position is displayed in accordance with the state’s law. Final agreed upon compensation is based upon individual qualifications and experience.
