Job summary

Actalent is seeking an Environmental Project Manager to oversee construction and energy projects across Upstate NY, with occasional work in the Northeast and Midwest. The role requires extensive travel and demonstrates expertise in environmental compliance and construction management.

Based in Syracuse, NY, this contract-to-hire position offers a hybrid work arrangement, per diem allowances, and competitive benefits as you coordinate site investigations, remediation efforts, and interagency

Qualifications

• Minimum 2–3 years of project management experience.
• Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field.
• Willingness to travel extensively (85%).
• OSHA 30-hour Construction Safety Certification.
• Experience in environmental, remediation, civil, or decontamination work.
• Reliable transportation for travel across Upstate NY and surrounding states.
• Proficiency with ACC, Procore, or similar construction management platforms.
• Experience with in situ stabilization (ISS).
• OSHA 40-hour Hazwoper Certification (preferred).

• Manage construction activities for buildings, energy projects, facilities, and other infrastructure.
• Study drawings to plan procurement and construction.
• Plan construction means and methods, and staff projects based on construction plans.
• Read drawings, conduct safety meetings, and perform takeoffs.
• Perform soil sampling and reporting.
• Coordinate with federal, state, and local agencies to ensure environmental compliance.
• Manage multiple site investigation or remediation projects, including groundwater, soil, and vapor studies.
• Review Phase I/II Environmental Site Assessments (ESA) and prepare reports for regulatory agencies.
• Guide field staff, supervise work, and ensure adherence to safety protocols.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Syracuse, NY.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $45.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
