Job summary

City of Hawthorne is seeking an Environmental Technician to support city environmental programs and capital projects. The role involves coordinating with partners, preparing plans, and ensuring compliance with environmental regulations.

Ideal candidates hold a Bachelor’s degree in Science, Civil Engineering, or Environmental fields and have at least two years of experience in a government engineering division; a valid CA driver’s license and several certificates are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Science, Civil Engineering / Environmental or similar.
• Two (2) years of progressively responsible experience in Government Engineering Division.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate street lighting projects with Southern California Edison and prepare cost estimates.
• Prepare plans, specifications and estimates for public works improvements.
• Review bids and coordinate with contractors to keep projects within budget.
• Coordinate with other departments and agencies; prepare schedules and reports.
• Administer City environmental programs including SB1383 and recycling initiatives.
• Prepare grant applications and assist with budgets and CIP.
