Job summary

BiOrigin Specialty Products in East Hartford, CT is seeking an Environmental & Process Engineer to lead environmental compliance and sustainability at the East Hartford Mill. You will develop and modernize environmental programs, drive continuous improvement, and ensure regulatory adherence while partnering with cross-functional teams.

You will own water and air systems, coordinate sampling and reporting to EPA, train operators, manage permits, support safety and cost improvements, and

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required in environmental/chemical/mechanical engineering or related field.
• Strong time management and organizational skills.
• Experience in paper manufacturing or similar industry.
• Experience in managing Environmental Systems and Environmental Report generation.
• Troubleshooting skills and ability to implement corrective actions.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, JDE and Outlook.
• Excellent verbal and written communication.
• Demonstrated ability to achieve Continuous Improvement.

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of the mill's water and air environmental systems, ensuring full compliance with regulations.
• Coordinate sample collection, laboratory testing, and reporting to EPA agencies.
• Monitor wastewater system operation and train operators; drive continuous improvement.
• Ensure compliance with permits, renewals, and spill response plans.
• Collaborate with staff to resolve safety, environmental, quality, production and cost issues.
• Oversee raw material usage and provide technical guidance to beater room personnel.
