The Environmental Planner will support and lead NEPA planning for projects, NEPA document writing, internal and external coordination, and project management to complete the NEPA process. This work will be performed in conjunction with government agencies and commercial clients in the mining, renewable energy, energy transmission and commercial development sectors across Nevada, California and occasional work in other parts of the Western US In this role, you will also be involved in supporting the growth of new and existing client relationships in conjunction with business development leaders and account leaders. You will participate in the pursuit of new clients and and proposal opportunities, including scope and cost development.

Responsibilities
  • Technical writing for NEPA documents such as Environmental Assessments, Environmental Impact Statements and Categorical Exclusions.
  • ·Represent clients and project objectives with leading government agencies to move projects smoothly through complex regulatory process.
  • Communicate with clients about the permitting environment, associated risks related to permitting and provide expert guidance about efficiently navigating these challenges.
  • Manage complex schedules for multi-year projects and communicate each step with clients and government agency staff.
  • Review technical reports data and historic records to analyze environmental effects and develop permitting documents in compliance with agency standards
  • Continuously monitor changes to federal, state and local regulations, anticipate effects to the permitting environment and communicate with clients about project impacts.
  • Utilizes Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to analyze data and prepare detailed maps for use in reports.
  • Support agency stakeholder and public engagement efforts. Schedule, attends, and prepare summary reports for meetings, both internal and external.
  • Coordinate closely with a large team of governmental agencies, contractors, the public, and other project personnel.
  • Identify and implement innovative tools to improve communication, file sharing, and workflow within a large project team Develop and maintains databases.
  • Tracks project schedule and task status, prepares status and progress reports on a regular basis.
  • Assists with other duties assigned by senior staff and/or Project Managers.
  • Under direct supervision, conducts field evaluations and assessments.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in planning, policy, natural resource management, environmental science, biology, ecology, or similar environmental discipline.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience including significant experience performing NEPA analyses and managing NEPA projects.
  • Demonstrated experience working with federal agencies: BLM, USFS, USFWS, BOR preferably in Nevada.
  • Demonstrated experience with state agencies: NDOW, NDOM, NDF, NDEP, NDOT.
  • Experience with Nevada counties and municipalities (preferred).
  • Experience with CEQA process (preferred).
  • Experience with Clean Water Act, Section 404 – Waters of the US regulation (preferred).
  • Working Knowledge and experience with Nevada environmental regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Working knowledge of ArcGIS Pro, Smartsheet and Microsoft Project
  • Technical background and expertise in a NEPA discipline, such as cultural resources, noise, air quality, biology, Clean Water Act permitting.
  • Advanced writing, editing, and formatting skills with proven ability to tailor content for target audiences.
  • Exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple complex deadlines simultaneously.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to work independently and collaboratively across remote, cross-functional teams.
Physical Demands & Work Environment

• This position primarily operates in a professional office environment, requiring the ability to work at a desk for extended periods while using a computer, phone, and standard office equipment. • The position involves sitting for extended periods, performing data entry, and engaging in frequent communication via email, phone, and in-person interactions.• The role involves regular communication with team members, clients, and stakeholders, both in person and through virtual platforms.• The physical demands of the job may include occasional standing, walking, bending, and lifting of office materials up to 15 pounds.
