Job summary

NewRange Copper Nickel is seeking an Environmental & Permitting Principal for the NorthMet project, based in Hoyt Lakes, MN. You will manage environmental leads, specialists, and contractors, directing permitting and compliance activities for local, state, and federal levels.

Reporting to the Environmental and Permitting Manager, you will oversee staff development, vendor agreements, and environmental audits, ensuring timely permit readiness and regulatory compliance while supporting project

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, environmental engineering, or related discipline; advanced degree preferred.
• Professional engineering license or equivalent preferred.
• Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in environmental permitting and compliance, preferably in mining or large, complex projects.
• Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in air-related permitting and compliance, preferably in mining or large, complex projects.
• Demonstrated expertise in federal, state, and local environmental permitting frameworks and regulatory processes.
• Strong leadership of multidisciplinary environmental programs and interface with regulators and senior leadership.

Responsibilities

• Lead environmental compliance and permitting for NorthMet project.
• Oversee environmental staff, contractors, and vendors; manage budgets and service agreements.
• Coordinate with regulators and prepare permit applications and studies.
• Develop internal guidelines and SOPs for environmental compliance.
• Conduct environmental audits and document results for regulatory reporting.
• Deliver monthly environmental compliance reports to leadership.
