Job summary

Jacobs is seeking an Environmental Permitting Professional to support planning, permitting, and delivery of electric transmission projects. You will secure environmental approvals across project phases, working with engineering, regulatory, real estate, legal, and stakeholder groups.

You will lead complex permit submissions, develop strategies, coordinate consultants, and manage agency communications while mentoring junior staff and maintaining schedule integrity.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in environmental-related field or equivalent.
• 4–8 years of progressive environmental consulting or related experience.
• Experience leading environmental permitting and regulatory compliance.
• Ability to interpret complex regulations and permit conditions.
• Strong written and verbal communication; experience presenting to agencies.
• Ability to manage priorities, schedules, and multidisciplinary teams.
• Willingness to travel up to 20% and perform site visits.

Responsibilities

• Lead preparation and submission of complex permit applications (federal, state, local).
• Develop permitting strategies, schedules, and agency outreach plans.
• Coordinate consultants for environmental studies and materials.
• Manage agency comments, permit revisions, and tracking.
• Facilitate cross‑functional coordination across project teams.
• Participate in negotiations with regulators and stakeholders.
• Review technical work for regulatory alignment and quality.
• Mentor junior analysts on permitting procedures and delivery.
• Report permitting status and risks to project leadership.
• Promote health, safety, environmental, and quality requirements.
