Job summary

The Department of Agriculture, Conservation & Forestry’s Land Use Planning Commission (LUPC) is seeking an Environmental Licensing Specialist I to primarily handle routine permitting and compliance tasks in the Northern Region. This role is based in Ashland, with travel within the region and occasional out-of-region work, under supervision.

The successful candidate will learn LUPC rules and land use standards, assess technical information, and communicate findings orally and in writing.

Qualifications

• Education, training and/or experience in environmental science or another applicable scientific field.

Responsibilities

• Handle routine permitting and compliance tasks within the LUPC’s Northern Region.
• Travel primarily within the Northern Region and occasionally to other regions for field visits.
• Inspect development and land uses, assess technical information, and apply land use standards.
• Prepare decision documents and assist with larger projects under guidance of higher-level staff.
