Job summary

Mountain Roots is seeking volunteers to design and deliver environmental and nutrition lessons for PreK-12 students, while developing and leading after-school and summer programs in cooking, science, and garden education. This role involves coordinating with local experts and integrating school gardens and hydroponics into curricula and cafeterias.

You will connect farmers with schools, organize field trips, and support community outreach, with transportation responsibilities including driving

Qualifications

• Experience in education or youth programs is preferred.
• Ability to design and deliver hands-on environmental and nutrition lessons.

Responsibilities

• Design & deliver environmental/nutrition lessons for PreK-12th grade students.
• Create, plan & lead after school programs—kids cooking classes & science/garden clubs.
• Develop & lead summer camp programs—earth science, nature discovery, botany, survival skills, cooking.
• Coordinate with local experts for field trips & guest-led educational experiences.
• Cultivate & integrate school gardens & hydroponics into curricula & cafeterias; organize field days.
• Introduce fresh local foods through tastings, chef-in-classroom activities & in-school events.
• Connect farmers to schools by coordinating with food service directors and teachers.
• Transport students in company or rental vehicles, including 15-passenger vans.
