Job summary

Utah State University, through Swaner Preserve and EcoCenter, seeks an Elementary Youth Programs Coordinator who plans and delivers hands-on, inquiry-based learning for ages 5–13. The role partners with the Director of Youth Programs to run field trips, classroom outreach, camps, and after-school programs in safe, engaging natural settings.

You will mentor staff and volunteers, coordinate curriculum aligned with SEEd standards, manage program operations, and help evaluate impact while serving

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of education and related experience.
• Experience working with youth in formal or informal educational settings.
• Valid driver’s license to drive university vehicles and transport materials.
• Successful completion of a background check.
• Three years of related experience in informal/formal education preferred.
• Spanish communication ability is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Acts as lead educator to deliver hands-on programs to youth ages 5–13; develops science curricula and plans schedules with the Director of Youth Programs.
• Delivers SEEd Standard-aligned lessons during field trips and classroom outreach; maintains and updates curriculum for school partners.
• Oversees and mentors education staff and volunteers; manages program supplies and facility resources.
• Supports Swaner initiatives and events and performs other duties as assigned.
