Job summary

Mountain Roots Food Project in Colorado seeks an Environmental & Outdoor Educator to design and deliver hands‑on lessons for Pre‑K through high school students. You will plan after‑school activities, summer camps, and garden projects that connect classrooms with local farms and nutrition education.

Join a multifaceted rural program harnessing regenerative agriculture, community outreach, and partnerships with schools.

Qualifications

Strong communication and classroom engagement skills.
Experience designing and delivering hands‑on lessons.
Ability to work with diverse age groups in educational settings.

Responsibilities

Design & deliver environmental/nutrition lessons for PreK-12th grade students
Create, plan & lead after school programs-kids cooking classes & science/garden clubs
Develop & lead summer camp programs-teaching earth science, nature discovery, botany, survival skills, cooking, nature‑based arts/crafts & more
Coordinate with local experts for field trips & guest‑led educational experiences
Cultivate & integrate school gardens & hydroponics units into curricula & cafeterias; organize community garden field days
Introduce fresh local foods through tastings, chef‑in‑classroom programs & other in‑school activities.
Connect farmers to schools by coordinating with food service directors/administrators/teachers & community to advance school lunch reform & bring education into cafeterias through tastings
Transport students in company or rental vehicles, including 15‑passenger vans
