Job summary

Responsibilities

• Oversee, maintain, and audit environmental compliance programs across multiple regional facilities.
• Manage Air, Water, and Waste programs (permitting, emissions, wastewater, stormwater).
• Lead hazardous waste management (RCRA) enterprise-wide.
• Design and implement robust environmental programs to elevate standards.
• Mentor indirect environmental and safety reports at sites.
• Maintain regulatory agency interfaces, inspections, reporting deadlines, and permit renewals.

Position Overview

We are seeking a high-caliber Environmental Manager to provide strategic and tactical multi-site support for our global manufacturing operations in the Greenville-Spartanburg, SC region. In this role, you will serve as the subject matter expert for all environmental media, with a heavy emphasis on expert-level hazardous waste management. Reporting directly to the EHS Director, you will lead environmental programs, drive operational change, and influence site behaviors through several indirect reports across our manufacturing locations.

Key Responsibilities

• Multi-Site Environmental Compliance: Oversee, maintain, and audit environmental compliance programs across multiple regional facilities, ensuring strict adherence to federal, state, and local regulations.
• Media Management: Provide hands-on management and oversight for all environmental media, including Air (permitting/emissions), Water (NPDES, wastewater, stormwater), and Waste programs.
• Hazardous Waste Leadership: Serve as the corporate subject matter expert on hazardous waste management (RCRA), ensuring impeccable storage, handling, labeling, manifesting, and disposal protocols.
• Program Leadership & Change Management: Lead, design, and implement robust environmental programs that elevate our operational standards and drive a culture of continuous environmental stewardship.
• Team Influence: Provide guidance, mentorship, and functional direction to indirect environmental and safety reports stationed at individual manufacturing sites.
• Agency Interfacing: Serve as the primary point of contact for regulatory agency interactions, inspections, reporting submission deadlines, and permitting renewals.

Required Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related STEM discipline.
• Experience: 6 to 10 years of progressive environmental compliance experience within a manufacturing or heavy industry environment.
• Technical Expertise: Expert-level knowledge of hazardous waste regulations and comprehensive experience managing multi-media (Air, Water, Waste) corporate programs.
• Leadership Skills: Proven track record of leading complex programs, managing cross-functional initiatives, and successfully driving cultural and operational change.
• Logistics & Authorization:
• Must be able to work 100% on-site in the Greenville-Spartanburg area (no hybrid or remote options available).
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
