The Employee Connect seeks a Lead Environmental Engineer for our Graniteville, SC site. You will own environmental compliance across air, water, and waste programs and work directly with plant leadership to advance sustainability initiatives.

You will manage regulatory permits and reporting, coordinate audits, and train staff on environmental procedures while building a culture of safety and compliance at the plant level.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in environmental, chemical, civil, or mechanical engineering.
• Experience in environmental compliance for a manufacturing setting.
• Knowledge of Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, and RCRA.
• Experience with Title V or similar air permits.
• Strong regulatory writing and communication skills.
• Ability to work onsite at the plant.

Lead Environmental Engineer

Location: Graniteville, SC

Shift/Schedule: Full-time, onsite, Monday through Friday

Pay/Compensation: $110,000 – $130,000 per year

About the Role

A fast-paced, safety-first production facility is seeking a Lead Environmental Engineer to own environmental compliance for a large manufacturing site. This engineer manages air, water, and waste programs while guiding the plant toward stronger sustainability performance. The role offers site-level ownership, visibility with plant leadership, and the stability of a global manufacturer.

The ideal candidate has owned environmental compliance for a manufacturing site and is comfortable working directly with regulators. You understand air, water, and waste regulations in depth, write clear permit applications, and can influence plant leaders to invest in sustainability. You are organized, detail-focused, and able to manage many compliance deadlines at once without losing sight of the bigger picture. You enjoy training employees and building a strong environmental culture on the plant floor. Experience working with state environmental agencies and managing outside consultants will help you succeed quickly in this role.

Preferred Qualifications

• Professional Engineer license
• Experience leading an environmental team or program
• ISO 14001 environmental management system experience
• Automotive, rubber, or chemical manufacturing experience
• South Carolina DES regulatory experience
