Job summary

Onterris is seeking a Laboratory Technician I for our Richmond, VA lab to support multiple projects and interact with regulatory agencies and clients. You'll prepare samples and reagents, perform extractions, and maintain records.

This entry-level role offers an overnight schedule and a pay range of $20.00–$24.00 per hour, commensurate with experience. We value safety, accuracy and the ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Associate's degree or equivalent and relevant formal academic/vocational qualifications preferred
• Some lab experience is preferred but not required as this is an entry level position
• Knowledge of general lab practices and lab safety
• Able to multi-task and communicate effectively (both oral and written)
• Able to work independently and make sound decisions
• Well organized and have an attention to detail

A Day in the Life

As a Laboratory Technician I in our Richmond, VA lab, you'll be responsible for assisting multiple projects where you will have increasing interaction with our multi-disciplinary staff, regulatory agencies and clients. You will be part of a strong team of committed professionals. The compensation range for this role is $20.00 to $24.00, commensurate with experience, skills, and geographic location. Schedule: Overnight position Thursday - Sunday, 5pm - 3:30am shift

Responsibilities

• Preparation of samples for analysis


• Preparation of reagents for lab use and/or shipment


• Sample extractions


• Determining the volume of samples


• Cleaning of laboratory glassware


• Maintaining clean laboratory areas


• Maintaining organized records of sample preparation and analysis


• Courier supplies to and/or samples from client sites


• Overhead projects designed to improve efficiency of, or accuracy of analyses


• Assisting the Group Leaders and analysts in acquiring and inventorying consumables, chemicals, and parts for instrumentation


• Dispose of laboratory waste in a safe manner following prescribed procedures


• Comply with Enthalpy's Quality Assurance Program and other policies


• Comply with Enthalpy's Health and Safety Plan


• Other duties as assigned by the Group Leader or Lab Director

Your Expertise and Skills

• High School Diploma or GED.


• Associate's degree or equivalent and relevant formal academic/vocational qualifications preferred


• Some lab experience is preferred but not required as this is an entry level position


• Knowledge of general lab practices and lab safety


• Able to multi-task and communicate effectively (both oral and written)


• Able to work independently and make sound decisions

Work Environment and Physical Requirements

• Sitting, standing, and walking


• Lifting 50 pounds several times a day


• Overhead lifting of over 20 pounds


• Works in an office environment


• May be exposed to hot and cold environments


• May occasionally work shifts up to 12 hours in duration
