The DuPage County Health Department seeks an environmental technician for testing and analyzing water and other samples. This on-call position involves significant laboratory work, adherence to safety standards, and effective communication with clients. Ideal candidates have an Associate's Degree and experience in laboratory settings. Responsibilities include conducting tests, managing equipment, and responding to client inquiries.
An employee in this classification is responsible for collecting, testing, and analyzing water and other environmental samples to determine chemical and bacteriological components. Work involves adherence to applicable quality control procedures and guidelines. This is an on-call position, working no more than 1000 hours per fiscal year.
Completion of an Associate’s Degree in Chemistry, Biological, or related field, and at least six months of laboratory water sampling and analysis experience, or equivalent training and experience meeting state requirements.
Regularly lift and carry at least 25 pounds. Work involves hazardous materials, chemicals, odors, and sometimes fieldwork in extreme weather or confined spaces.
