Job summary

ICF in Corvallis, Oregon is seeking an Environmental Laboratory Chemist to support the USEPA Region 9 ESAT contract. You will apply your analytical chemistry experience to prepare and analyze samples using GC-FID, GC-ECD and GC-MS for volatile and semivolatile organics and related contaminants. The role requires a B.S.

in chemistry or related field and 4+ years of lab experience with EPA methods; U.S. citizenship and ability to pass an EPA background check are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, biology, environmental science, environmental engineering, or related.
• 4+ years of laboratory experience using EPA-approved methodologies and instrumentation, preferably GC-FID, GC-ECD and GC/MS.
• Excellent verbal, interpersonal and written communication skills, and the ability to think critically.
• U.S. citizenship required per federal contract.
• MUST BE ABLE TO PASS an EPA background check to obtain access to US federal property.

Responsibilities

• Sample preparation in support of and operation of GC-FID, GC-ECD and GC-MS to determine volatile and semivolatile organics, pesticides, Aroclors, and fuel hydrocarbons.
• Perform analyses in accordance with EPA methods for air, water, soil, biota and other media.
• Operate and maintain instrumentation and ensure data quality per NELAC/EPA standards.
• Collaborate with team members to support USEPA programs and regulatory requirements.
