Job summary

City of DeLand is seeking an Environmental Analyst II to perform laboratory operations and field sampling for water and wastewater analysis under the Chief Chemist. The role requires work in a NELAP certified laboratory and interaction with the public.

Responsibilities include setting up lab apparatus, preparing reagents, analyzing water samples, and reporting results. A relevant degree and 3 years of lab experience are required, with a valid Florida driver’s license and CPR/First Aid

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Associate degree in Chemistry, Biology or Environmental Science or related field is required.
• Minimum three years as a Laboratory Technician I or equivalent experience is required.
• Equivalent combination of education and training may be considered.

Responsibilities

• Performs routine field sampling and analysis under supervision.
• Works in a NELAP Certified Laboratory.
• Sets up and adjusts laboratory apparatus.
• Assists in preparation of reagents for analyses.
• Conducts sampling and analyses of drinking water, wastewater, sludge, pretreatment and groundwater.
• Maintains laboratory inventory of chemicals and glassware.
• Prepares reports and performs miscellaneous functions.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
