Job summary

The City of Denton is seeking a laboratory analyst to conduct routine operational control and permit compliance testing for drinking water, wastewater, stormwater, industrial pretreatment water, biosolids and to perform water distribution system sampling in line with NELAP standards.

The candidate will perform BOD, CBOD, TSS, pH, NH3, total coliform, E. coli, turbidity, conductivity and other analyses, maintaining certifications and preparing QA/QC materials and reports as required.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or two years of college in chemistry, biology, environmental science or related field.
• Three years of experience in an environmental, water, or wastewater laboratory.
• Must obtain or currently hold a TCEQ Class D Water Distribution License within one year.

Responsibilities

• Performs routine operational control and permit compliance testing across multiple city divisions.
• Performs BOD, CBOD, TSS, pH, NH3, coliforms, E. coli, turbidity, conductivity analyses and QA/QC prep.
• Reads and implements Standard Method procedures and SOP documents.
• Maintains NELAP certification and passes proficiency tests annually.
• Prepares laboratory materials, reagents, and standards for testing.
• Records daily temperature data and checks equipment per QA/QC requirements.
• Performs maintenance tasks in the laboratory and ensures safety.
