Job summary

A.O. Smith is seeking a Lab Analyst to prepare and analyze environmental samples in accordance with EPA regulations, GLP, and QA programs. The role involves extensive instrument work and data reporting to support timely, accurate results.

Responsibilities include sample prep, chemical analyses with GC/GC-MS/ICP, reagent preparation, and instrument maintenance, all while maintaining a safe lab environment and strict adherence to SOPs.

Qualifications

• Associates or Bachelor's degree in a related field.
• Strong math/data analysis and precise data recording.
• Ability to manage workload within time/quality constraints.

Responsibilities

• Perform sample preparation using standard techniques, including acidification, digestion, aliquoting, and weighing.
• Conduct chemical analyses using approved laboratory methods and instrumentation.
• Prepare reagents, standards, and calibration solutions to support accurate instrument performance.
• Calculate, record, and report analytical data, including documenting any irregularities or deviations.
• Perform routine instrument maintenance and troubleshooting as needed.
• Maintain compliance with QA/QC standards, SOPs, and regulatory requirements.
• Follow Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) in all aspects of work.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe laboratory environment, including glassware and workspace upkeep.
• Assist in operation and development of technical expertise in advanced instrumentation, including GC, GC/MS, Purge & Trap, AA, ICP, and laboratory data systems.
• Perform routine laboratory tasks under supervision using established procedures.
• Complete all work in a safe, efficient, and timely manner.
• Support additional laboratory duties as assigned.
