Job summary

Slingshot seeks an experienced MA/RI Community Organizer to work with frontline communities on climate and environmental justice. You will anchor relationships across Eastern Massachusetts and Rhode Island, building power with community groups, funders, and partners.

Virtual and in-person engagement are needed, with travel to the field. You will design and deliver workshops, lead campaign development, and support fundraising and organizational growth as part of a non-hierarchical team.

Qualifications

• At least three years of related work experience, such as community organizing or grassroots campaign coordination.
• A passion for organizing with people as means for change.
• Experience living in or working with frontline communities, especially communities of color and low-income groups.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills; you enjoy spending time with people and building relationships.
• Strategic thinking and effective facilitation skills.
• Experience with leadership development, preferably training leaders in grassroots settings.
• Experience with campaign planning and development.
• A passion for racial, economic, and environmental justice and a commitment to inclusive work.
• Flexibility and willingness to join a growing, non-hierarchical team.
• A driver’s license and a willingness to travel for work.

Responsibilities

• Community organizing workshops and leadership development; facilitate group sessions and one-to-one coaching.
• Campaign development and strategy; build relationships with local leaders in MA and RI.
• Communications and organizational visibility; support media presence and campaign materials.
• Fundraising; cultivate foundations and donors, assist with grant writing and outreach.
• Organizational development; contribute to the three-year plan and equity-centered processes.
