Job summary

Grassroots International in Boston seeks a Solidarity Program Officer for the BEAI Fund to develop and manage a grantmaking program advancing environmental and climate justice in the US and globally. You will lead an advisory board and support grantees through the full grantmaking cycle.

The role requires strong fundraising, grantwriting, and communication skills, with travel as needed and a commitment to mission-driven organizing.

Qualifications

• Commitment to Grassroots’ mission and BEAI Fund; understanding of environmental and climate justice movements in US and globally.
• Experience in grassroots social justice organizing in domestic and/or international settings.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work flexibly as part of a mission-driven team.
• High level of self-organization with attention to detail, administrative and computer skills.
• Experience in grantmaking, program development, and fundraising.
• Strong written and oral communication skills, including public speaking.
• Spanish language fluency desirable; other languages a plus.
• Willingness to travel nationally and regionally, including some evenings and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership on issues vital to the program, including grassroots and climate justice work in the US.
• Staff an Advisory Board comprising representatives from grassroots organizing and funders to guide grantmaking.
• Support applicants in the grantwriting process and provide background to staff, Advisory Board, and Board.
• Create strong relations with grantees and manage all grantmaking stages.
• Gather information to monitor projects and promote them with external evaluator coordination.
• Share information with BEAI Initiative and funders as needed.
• Represent Grassroots International in organizing and funder spaces.
• Report to the Director of Grantmaking and Advocacy.
