Job summary

TRC Companies, Inc. is seeking motivated Environmental Interns for our Summer 2027 internship program in our New York, NY office. This is a paid full-time position with an anticipated duration of June through August 2027 (flexible).

The successful candidate will work under supervision of Project Managers and Team Leaders, collaborating with engineers, scientists, and technologists. Potential to transition to a full-time role after graduation.

Qualifications

• Must be 21+ years old with a valid driver's license.
• Pursuing degree in Environmental Engineering, Geology, Civil Engineering, Environmental Science or related field.
• Minimum GPA 3.0.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• OSHA 40-hour or 30-hour training preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Support environmental investigation and remediation projects through fieldwork, sampling, and reporting.
• Assist with soil, groundwater, air, and soil vapor sampling and remedial activities.
• Interpret environmental data, prepare technical reports and figures, document findings per regs.
• Assist with project planning, scheduling, and coordination.
• Work approximately 75% in office and 25% in the field at project sites.
• Perform other related duties as necessary.

Overview

This position has the potential to transition into a Full-Time role upon graduation. The successful candidate will work under the supervision of Project Managers and Team Leaders and partner with engineers, scientists, and technologists.

Responsibilities

• The Intern will support environmental investigation and remediation projects through fieldwork, environmental sampling, and reporting.
• Responsibilities include assisting with soil, groundwater, air, and soil vapor sampling, as well as supporting remedial activities and routine site visits.
• The intern will assist with interpreting environmental data, preparing technical reports and figures, and documenting findings in accordance with applicable regulations and standard operating procedures.
• Additional duties include supporting project planning, scheduling, and coordination.
• The position will consist of approximately 75% office-based work and 25% fieldwork at various project sites.
• Perform other related duties and responsibilities as necessary.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 21 years old with a valid driver's license.
• Pursuing Masters, Bachelors or Associate Degree in Environmental Engineering, Geology, Civil Engineering, Environmental Science, or related field.
• Minimum GPA of 3.0.
• Has excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Time Management, willingness to take on new things, some field work.
• Possesses solid technical and problem-solving skills.
• Self-motivated, detail orientated person.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint)

• OSHA 40-hour safety or 30-hour OSHA safety training preferred but not required.

Compensation:

In accordance with local law, the below salary range is applicable for the job and location associated with this requisition. Compensation will vary based upon experience, education, skill level, geographical location, and other compensable factors.
