Job summary

Stantec is seeking a mid-level Environmental Inspector II to provide technical support on a variety of projects within the Environmental Services team. The role supports permitting and regulatory approvals for land-disturbing projects, leveraging relationships with regulatory agencies across the mid-Atlantic.

Responsibilities include inspections (ESC/SWPPP/VWP), permit applications, budget adherence, and coordination with clients, agencies, and regulatory staff.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in environmental science or related field.
• 5+ years of experience with VPDES/SWPPP, permitting and environmental compliance.
• Certification as VA DEQ ESC/SWM Inspector and familiarity with VSMP, ESCCC and MS4.

Responsibilities

• Perform ESC, SWPPP and VWP inspections for projects.
• Manage VPDES/VWP projects and support staff for compliance.
• Coordinate with client representatives and agency personnel.
• Provide regulatory support during pre- and post-permitting stages.
• Prepare permit applications and coordinate comment responses.
• Deliver work within timeframes and budget.
• Assist in creating technical documents for regulatory submissions.
• Support Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) policies on projects.
• Participate in team and independent work.
