Job summary

Stantec is seeking a mid-level Environmental Inspector II to provide technical support on a variety of projects in the mid-Atlantic region. This role is part of our Environmental Services team and supports permitting and approval requirements for land-disturbing projects.

Responsibilities include inspections (VPDES/SWPPP), permit applications, agency coordination, and ensuring regulatory compliance. A VA DEQ ESC/SWM Inspector certification and 5+ years of related experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience with VPDES/SWPPP and environmental permitting.
• VA DEQ ESC/SWM Inspector certification preferred.
• Experience with wetlands, natural resources, and regulatory submissions.

Responsibilities

• Perform ESC, SWPPP and VWP inspections for sensitive projects and high-profile clients.
• Manage VPDES/VWP projects and support staff to maintain project compliance.
• Communicate with client representatives, agency personnel, and other specialists to ensure project consistency.
• Provide technical and regulatory support in pre- and post-permitting stages.
• Prepare permit applications and coordinate comment responses with agencies.
• Deliver work within time frames and budgets.
• Assist in creating technical documents for regulatory submissions.
• Support HSE policies and coordinate with HSE during project planning and execution.
• Participate in team and independent work.
