Job summary

The Municipality of Anchorage is seeking a seasoned Environmental Health Services Manager to direct program planning, budgeting and staff supervision within the Anchorage Health Department. You will lead grant applications and ensure effective oversight of multiple environmental health programs.

This role involves reviewing municipal codes, coordinating with public and private sector partners, and balancing priorities across departments to meet critical public health needs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Chemistry, Biology or a related discipline, and four (4) years of related experience, including one year as Environmental Sanitarian III.
• Associate's degree in Environmental Science, Chemistry, Biology or related discipline, and six (6) years of related experience, including one year as Environmental Sanitarian III.
• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent and eight (8) years of related experience, including one year as Environmental Sanitarian III.

Responsibilities

• Oversee Environmental Health Services, including program planning, directing, budgeting and staff supervision.
• Lead grant applications and administration across multiple program grants.
• Review and revise applicable municipal codes, including Anchorage Municipal Code chapters 15 and 16.
• Coordinate with public, governmental and private sector agencies to address environmental health needs.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Chemistry, Biology or a related discipline

Master's degree (preferred)
