Job summary

Kelly Services seeks an Environmental Health & Safety Technician for our Le Center, Minnesota facility to support day-to-day health, safety, and environmental initiatives.

The role promotes a strong safety culture, ensures compliance with federal/state/local regulations, and collaborates with HR and operations to improve workplace safety through inspections, incident investigations, and program administration.

Qualifications

• Technical degree, safety certification, or related education required.
• Thorough knowledge and understanding of occupational health and safety regulations, standards, and best practices.
• Previous experience in a food manufacturing environment preferred.
• Professional safety designation such as CSP, CRSP, or equivalent is a plus but not required.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively influence and communicate with employees and leaders at all levels.
• Demonstrated leadership and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and other computer-based systems.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• High attention to detail and the ability to maintain accurate records and documentation.
• Self-motivated and able to work independently with limited supervision.
• Service-oriented and team-focused with a commitment to continuous improvement.
• Ability to exercise sound judgment when identifying and addressing workplace safety concerns.

Responsibilities

Position Summary

We are seeking an Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Technician to support the day-to-day health, safety, and environmental initiatives at our Le Center, Minnesota manufacturing facility. This position will help promote a strong safety culture, safe work practices, and a safe working environment for employees, contractors, and visitors.

The EHS Technician will support the administration and continuous improvement of the facility’s EHS programs with the goal of preventing workplace injuries, incidents, and environmental impacts while ensuring compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations.

Key Responsibilities

• Support compliance with applicable federal and state environmental, health, and safety regulations by monitoring regulatory requirements and recommending appropriate actions.
• Lead and/or support workplace incident and accident investigations, including root-cause analysis, documentation, corrective actions, and follow-up.
• Maintain accurate records of safety-related incidents, investigations, corrective actions, and recommendations.
• Conduct routine safety inspections, hazard assessments, and risk assessments to identify and address potential workplace hazards.
• Monitor employee, contractor, and visitor adherence to company safety policies, procedures, and programs.
• Review and update safe work procedures and provide recommendations for improving workplace safety.
• Partner with Human Resources on workers’ compensation claims, injury management, and related documentation.
• Maintain required OSHA and other regulatory records, including OSHA 300 and 300A logs and injury reports, as applicable.
• Complete and submit required regulatory and compliance reports in a timely manner.
• Coordinate and support the site Health & Safety Committee and related safety initiatives.
• Assist with the development and implementation of programs that strengthen the facility’s safety culture.
• Serve as a point of contact for on-site security activities, where applicable.
• Collaborate with other company facilities to share EHS best practices and support company-wide safety initiatives.
• Provide safety guidance and support to employees and leadership at all levels.
• Participate in training, safety communications, and employee engagement activities designed to improve workplace safety.
• Perform other EHS-related duties and projects as assigned.

• Ability to work in a food manufacturing/production environment for extended periods.
• Ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, bend, and reach as required.
• Ability to use hands and fingers to handle objects, tools, equipment, and controls.
• Ability to reach with hands and arms.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
• Ability to work in an environment where food allergens may be present.
• Exposure to varying environmental conditions, including heat, cold, dampness, and chemicals.
• Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow all facility safety and food safety requirements.
