Job summary

Symrise AG is seeking a proactive EHS professional for our Hodges, SC site to develop and implement plant safety programs and manage compliance. You will lead safety meetings, audits, and incident investigations while maintaining SDS, safety records, and staff training.

Ideal candidates hold a 4-year EHS degree with 5+ years of experience, strong communication, and leadership abilities, plus OSHA training and proficiency in SAI360.

Qualifications

• BS in EHS or related field; 5 years EHS experience preferred.
• Formal training in OSHA standards.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement plant safety procedures.
• Manage site EHS programs and compliance.
• Audit safety and health program for regulatory compliance.
• Oversee SAI360 data entry and action closure.
• Conduct safety meetings and training for plant personnel.
• Maintain safety records and inspections (PIT operators, ladders, eyewash, forklifts).
• Lead incident investigations and root-cause analysis; implement corrective actions.
• Facilitate monthly safety committee meetings.
• Maintain Job Safety Analysis and ADA job descriptions.
• Maintain SDS binders; conduct annual SDS audits.
• Perform PFAS equipment inspections (semi-annual).
• Manage Contractor Safety Program.
• Stay updated on federal, state and local regs; attend seminars.
• Source and inventory safety supplies and PPE.
• Formal training in OSHA standards; experience in adult training.
• Strong communication, leadership, multi-tasking and integrity.

Your role

• Development and implement plant procedures involving associate and plant safety
• Develop and manage all relevant EHS programs applicable to the site
• Audit plant safety and health program to ensure compliance with all company, local, state and federal regulation
• Primary person responsible for SAI360 to include entering and monitoring events and ensuring actions are closed time
• Conduct safety meetings and ensure that plant personnel are adequately trained in plant safety and health procedures
• Maintain and audit all safety records and inspections to include but not limited to licensed PIT operators, approved company driver list, annual lockout audits, weekly/monthly inspections of ladders, eyewash stations, forklifts & pallet jacks, etc.
• Lead Incident and Injury Investigations, guide the team in root cause analysis, and follow up on corrective actions and preventative measures.
• Facilitate monthly safety committee meetings.
• Maintain and update all Job Safety Analysis & ADA Job Descriptions.
• Maintain SDS binders and conduct annual audit of SDSs.
• Semi-annual inspections of PFAS equipment.
• Manage Contractor Safety Program.
• Maintain current knowledge of federal, state and local regulations. Attend seminars, lectures, meetings and professional conferences as required.
• Sources and maintains inventory of required safety supplies and PPE* 4 yr. degree preferred with 5 years of EHS experience preferred
• This position requires formal training in OSHA standards, and previous experience in an adult training.
• Must have experience with Microsoft Office.
• Previous experience in plant operations and preferred experience in manufacturing safety programs.
• Excellent communication skills can speak effectively before large and small groups, able to maintain confidentiality, and maintain integrity under pressure.
• Strong leadership skills, be a strategic thinker, multi-task and self-driven, while working well with peers and associates at all levels.
