Job summary

METTLER TOLEDO in Columbus, OH seeks an Environmental, Health & Safety leader to develop and execute strategies that improve the EH&S culture across the Masstron Producing Organization direction.

You will lead safety initiatives, train teams, and partner with plant management to implement improvements and ensure regulatory compliance.

This hands-on role requires collaboration, strong communication, and a proactive approach to reducing risks and incidents.

  • Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute strategies that improve the Environmental, Health, & Safety culture of the Masstron Producing Organization direction.
  • Effectively communicate and interact with internal and external stakeholders in line with METTLER TOLEDO visions and values.
  • Lead Safety initiatives and Continuous Improvement projects across production.
  • Develop and maintain EH&S processes and standards to ensure a safe, compliant facility.
  • Provide and lead comprehensive safety training programs, including new hire, visitor, OSHA, and SafeStart training.
  • Foster a culture of safety by training team members and conducting audits and root cause analyses.
  • Monitor and control EH&S expenses to meet budgets.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and legal requirements related to EH&S standards.
  • Create, maintain, and implement EH&S improvement roadmaps.
  • Build relationships with plant management, supervisors, production teams and SMEs.
  • Implement and lead an employee-involved Safety Committee.
  • Develop and implement the Safety Improvement Plan (SIP).
  • Ensure compliance with environmental and safety regulations, including hazardous waste handling per Ohio EPA policies.
  • Participate in sustainability initiatives via MT Green to reduce waste and carbon emissions.
  • Manage EH&S documentation, reporting, and government reporting requirements.
  • Act as a company leader and representative in METTLER TOLEDO's best interests.

Our Opening and Your Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute strategies that lead directly to the yearly improvement of the Environmental, Health, & Safety Culture of the Masstron Producing Organization direction.
  • Effectively communicate and interact with both internal and external stakeholders in a manner consistent with METTLER TOLEDO Visions and Values.
  • Be hands-on, proactive and highly visible while driving all Safety initiatives.
  • Lead Continuous Improvement initiatives related to Environmental, Health & Safety
  • Develop and maintain processes and standards to ensure a safe, secure facility meeting OSHA and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide and lead comprehensive safety training programs, including new hire, visitor, annual OSHA, and SafeStart human error reduction training.
  • Foster a culture of safety by training team members, driving unsafe condition Near Miss reporting, and participating in root cause analysis.
  • Conduct weekly safety audits, eye wash and fire extinguisher inspections, Safety Safari audits, annual evacuation drills, and other relevant EH&S activities.
  • Monitor and control Environmental and Safety expenses to achieve budgetary objectives.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and legal requirements related to EH&S standards.
  • Create, maintain, and implement EH&S improvement roadmaps.
  • Build working relationships with the plant management, supervisors, production teams and their SME's (Subject Matter Experts)
  • Implement and lead an employee involved Safety Committee.
  • Develop and implement the Safety Improvement Plan (SIP).
  • Ensure compliance with all environmental and safety regulations, including hazardous waste handling per Ohio EPA policies.
  • Participate in sustainability initiatives via the MT Green team to achieve goals like zero waste to landfill and carbon emissions reduction
  • Manage all EH&S documentation, reporting, SharePoint sites, and government reporting requirements (OSHA, EPA, GAIA reporting), implementing improvements as needed.
  • Act as a company leader and representative at all times in the best interest of METTLER TOLEDO while balancing the needs and requirements of the team.
