Job summary

The University of Iowa seeks an Assistant Research Scientist to contribute to IIHR—Hydroscience and Engineering and CHEEC, supporting Iowa INSIGHT. Lead environmental monitoring and biomonitoring research, mentor students, and contribute to publications and grant activity.

Laboratory work includes advanced instrumental analysis and data interpretation, with a focus on environmental samples and biospecimens.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Chemistry, Civil and Environmental Engineering, Environmental Health, or related fields.
• At least one year of Postdoctoral Scholar level experience or higher.
• Experience with method development for complex environmental samples (water, air, soils) and biospecimens.

Responsibilities

• Initiate research design and methodology with oversight.
• Operate and maintain instrumentation for environmental and biological samples.
• Perform advanced data analysis and compare with published work.
• Prepare manuscripts and contribute to publications.
• Contribute to grant proposals and reporting.
