Job summary

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with 30 semester hours of basic science coursework.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills under stressful situations for families.
• Good computer skills to communicate via e-mail and to collect data on electronic forms or spreadsheets.
• Ability to handle multiple projects with concentration and attention to detail amid frequent distractions.
• Valid Michigan driver’s license with acceptable driving record and insurance.

Responsibilities

• Conduct inspections, evaluations, and plan reviews as required by state law or local regulation.
• Issue sewage disposal permits, well permits, temporary food licenses, and evaluate cases for resolution.
• Enforce Calhoun County Sanitation Code and other rules and regulations as authorized.
• Enforce Safe Water Drinking Act compliance for non-community wells.
• Investigate a variety of complaints and evaluate water laboratory data for compliance.
• Evaluate vacant land for onsite sewage disposal and prepare written reports.
• Provide Environmental Health public education.
• Assist agencies on matters affecting public health and welfare; coordinate through reports.
• Participate in team and staff meetings and in public health quality programs.
