Wayne County Government—a hub of Michigan's largest county—seeks a Public Health Sanitarian I in the HHVS Public Health Division. The role conducts inspections, prepares permits, and trains staff across multiple programs, including food safety, vector surveillance, and water systems.

You will assist with accreditation and community outreach. The position requires a bachelor's degree in Environmental Health or related field, state registrations within 6 months, and a valid Michigan driver's

Competenze

Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Health or related field with at least 30 semester hours of science coursework and at least one math/statistics course.
Must have a valid State of Michigan driver's license and acceptable driving record.
Must obtain State or National registration as a Sanitarian/Environmental Health Specialist within 6 months of appointment.

Mansioni

Conduct inspections, evaluations or investigations at facilities under HHVS Public Health Division jurisdiction.
Prepare reports, issue permits, approvals or licenses.
Provide field and office training to Environmental Compliance Technicians I–III and monitor training records.
Proctor and process certifications for Food Program staff.
Create and conduct community outreach presentations and participate in health fairs.
