Ingham County Michigan is seeking an entry-level Environmental Health Inspector to enforce sanitation and environmental health laws across commercial, residential, and public locations. You will assist the public with questions and complaints, and conduct follow-up inspections to ensure corrective actions are completed.

The role includes education of food service managers, evaluation of wastewater and well permits, and investigation of hazardous conditions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health or related field.
• Entry level position; no prior experience required.
• Six months break-in period required.
• Valid Michigan driver’s license.
• Demonstrates effective communication skills.

Responsabilités

• Inspect commercial, residential, and public locations to enforce sanitation and environmental health laws.
• Educate food service managers on menus, hygiene policies, and critical points to apply them.
• Consult with permit applicants for on-site wastewater systems and evaluate site conditions.
• Assist the public in person or by phone with sanitation and environmental health questions.
• Evaluate sites for water well development and authorize or deny permits.
• Investigate outbreaks and environmental health hazards to minimize recurrence.
